Isis-WICCE wins Gender and ICT Award
An international Non-Governmental Organisation, Isis-Women's International Cross Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE), has won the Gender and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Award for its initiative on "Documenting Experiences of Women in Situations of Armed Conflict in Uganda". read more

The outcome of the findings of the earlier documentation
necessitated an intervention as a way of scientifically analysing the consequences of war especially to women and girls. A team of specialists from African Psycare Research Organisation (APRO), Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Uganda (AOGU) and Department of Orthopaedics - Makerere University teamed-up in May 2001 with the district based counterparts in Gulu to undertake a one month data collection, which led to the medical intervention of emergency cases in the area of psychological, gynaecological and surgical. read more

The national exchange
visits are aimed at empowering women at the grassroots level with skills in promoting a national culture of peace and good neighborliness. The year 2001, will be the third year of progressive training to over 40 participants, as a protracted engagement in creating sustainable peace. read more
