On Monday 16th August 2010, Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) Nepal in association with Isis-Women’s International Cross-Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE) opened a 12 day training institute on human rights, human security and participation, to be held in Park Village, Kathmandu, Nepal. [+]
Isis-Women’s International Cross-Cultural Exchange (Isis-WICCE) and the Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC-Nepal) will next week host the third phase of the 2009/2010 International Exchange program institute in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The institute which runs under the theme; Human Rights, Human security and Participation will go on for 12 days from Monday 16 to Friday 27 August 2010. This third Phase of institute brings together 30 women leaders from 14 countries of Burundi, D.R.Congo, India, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Uganda.[+]
At the 15th African Union Summit held in Kampala from 19-27 July, Isis WICCE joined several civil society organizations in Africa to put up activities to inform the Heads of State to bring the issues of women to the discussion table. In collaboration with Femmes Africa Solidarite (FAS) through a program called Gender is my Agenda (GIMAC), Isis-WICCE held a pre-summit consultative meeting on strengthening gender in the African Union. Between 5th and 9th July 2010, 34 Women’s Task Force members from the 5 sub-regions of North and North-eastern Uganda along with their counterparts based in Kampala and operating in the Greater North, came together in Entebbe for a training workshop on gender, advocacy, monitoring and evaluation of the PRDP. This training was organized by Isis-WICCE with technical support from the Institute for Inclusive Security.
The workshop was envisaged as a first step in increasing the women’s capacity in gender and advocacy as well as an opportunity for the task force to draw up concrete collective plans for advocacy and monitoring the PRDP, to ensure it involves and benefits women in North and North-eastern Uganda.[+]
